TRIO SSS Leading and Learning Week Call for Presentation Proposals
The TRIO SSS Leading and Learning Week is an opportunity for students, staff, faculty and community members to share knowledge that impacts success in higher education. It is a five-day academic and professional development as well as personal growth opportunity for NEIU students coordinated by the TRIO Student Support Services Programs. The presentations and workshops are facilitated by NEIU faculty, staff, students, and NEIU supporters. This semester sessions will be held on the 4th floor of the Ronald Williams Library from Monday, March 2nd, 2020 to Friday, March 6th, 2020. Sessions will be between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Each session will be 50 minutes long.
The Spring 2020 TRIO SSS Leading and Learning week theme is: "Leading and Learning: Preparing Students for Success in their Education, Career, and Life." We welcome proposals for presentations and/or interactive workshops that relate to the following topics:
1- Career and Professional Development (i.e. Resume/Cover Letter Writing, Job Interview Prep, Networking, Professionalism, etc.)
2- Personal Growth (Organizational skills, Identifying/Developing your Strengths, Identity Exploration, Self-advocacy)
3- Financial and Economic Literacy (College Finances: FAFSA and Scholarships, Personal Budgeting, Taxes, Debt Management, Good Borrowing/Bad Borrowing)
4- Preparing for Life After College Graduation (Graduate/Professional Education, Career Opportunities or Readiness, Job Search Strategies)
5- Nutrition, Health and Wellness
6- Academic Skills Development (Test Preparation (ACT, GRE, TAP, GMAT), Learning Styles, Time Management)
7- Leadership, Growth Mindset, and Resiliency
8- Student Services and Resources
